Most books which have been published after 1960 may be taken out. As a member you may borrow 4 books at a time for 3 weeks. You can renew them twice by phone or email. Overdue fines are £1 per week per book.
A coin-operated photocopier is available on the premises. Permission to photocopy material depends on its physical condition, copyright and/or whether it falls into the category of restricted materials.
Restricted materials The following materials may only be copied by Wiener Library staff:
- Very large heavy books
- Loose materials such as press cuttings
- Any item published prior to 1960
- Unpublished material
- Fragile items
- Pamphlets
Some materials may not be photocopied at all.

Copyright restrictionsNo more than 5% or one article of any published item may be copied. Staff will restrict the number of pages to be photocopied from any item to 5%.
ProcedureTo request material to be photocopied by staff a photocopy request form has to be filled out.
Payment
A flat fee of £10 or €15 applies in addition to the photocopying charges. Payment has to be made in advance, in cash or by cheque made out to Wiener Library Ltd. in Pound Sterling. Alternatively payment in Euros may be transferred to our German account - contact the library for details. We will try to post the requested copies within a week but we cannot guarantee this.

Two microfilm readers are available on site.
The internet is available via our public access computers in the reading room.
Recordings of our lectures are available to our Friends for borrowing and others can listen to them on site.
Use of a digital camera (no tripod, no flash) is permitted. You must provide your own camera. The flat fee is £5 per day. Use is subject to the condition of the material. You must complete and sign a form for Photocopying Unpublished Material if you wish to photograph documents. Published material can only be photographed within the copyright restrictions.
