The Future of The Wiener Library

In 2011 The Wiener Library will leave its home of over 50 years and move to 29 Russell Square in the heart of academic London. The relocation is one of the largest challenges the Library has faced in its history.

The move to new premises, including acquisition and refurbishment, will cost in the region of £3.5 million. In addition, the Library needs to raise a further £1.5 million towards the development of education and outreach work, volunteer programmes, exhibitions and running costs.

Through generous support from corporate, charitable and private donors, the Library has succeeded in raising over £3.1 million so far. A donation to our Building Fund will help to ensure that the Library can continue and improve its mission beyond 2011.

The Library is delighted to have secured the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund towards the project. The Library has been granted £475,000 to help remove current barriers to access and develop the Library’s potential for education and outreach work.
