The Wiener Library has an active Education and Outreach programme for the public and at higher education level. Lectures, book launches and seminars run by leading academics are held throughout the year.
National and international conferences are held on an annual basis, often organised with partners from other academic institutions and organisations.

The Wiener Library is represented on a number of important committees, including the National Event Steering group and the Education group advising on Holocaust Memorial Day.
Original research is promoted through links with universities and through the creation of a Wiener Library/Leo Baeck Institute Fellowship in 2003, funded by the British Academy.
The prestigious
Fraenkel Prize, awarded annually, is awarded by a distinguished Wiener Library academic committee, for outstanding essays in contemporary history.
The Education programme ensures the dissemination of ongoing scholarship and acts as a platform for debates and issues in relation to the Holoaust, genocide, huma rights and present-day racism.
Publications available as a result of conferences and lectures include:
From Nuremberg to the Hague, The Future of International Criminal Justice
ed. Philippe Sands (Cambridge University Press, 2003).
Politik und Verantwortung-Zur Aktualität von Hannah Arendt
Waltraud Meints, Katherine Klinger (Hrsg.) (Hannover 2004).
