  Introduction

This is a microfilm collection of original records of and about Buchenwald concentration camp. The custodial history of the originals prior to deposit is unknown.

The material was arranged into 2 groups: statistical information based (allegedly) on authentic documentation at Buchenwald that escaped destruction by the Nazi authorities; and lists of inmates and other miscellaneous material (517/I); and correspondence between the Buchenwald authorities and the Gestapo in Holland re the fate of belongings of deceased prisoners (517/II).

Note that the lists of prisoners at 517/I relate to prisoners who arrived from Flossenbürg concentration camp. Copies of transport lists from Buchenwald Gedenkstätte for this date confirm this.

The material was not numbered. All of it is in German.
