My Story: Francis Wahle, from Kindertransportee to Catholic Minister
Tue 27 May 2014
Time: 11.30am - 12.30pm
The Wiener Library is delighted to welcome Catholic minister and Kindertransportee Father Francis Wahle as part of our ‘My Story’ series of personal histories.
Francis was born in 1929 in Vienna into a comfortable middle class family and was brought up as a Catholic. His grandparents and parents had all been Jewish but his father had become a Christian aged 24 and his mother remained Jewish but was not practising. After the Anschluss in 1938, Francis was forced to leave school and eventually came to Britain on the Kindertransport. Hear more of Francis’s story and the impact on his life on Tuesday 27 May at 11.30am. A short question and answer session will follow the talk.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
There will be a public tour of the Wiener Library exhibition and archives at 1pm. Attendees of this talk are invited to attend.
