Exile and Refugee Newsletters

London was a centre for exile groups and many newsletters were published here, such as London Information of the Austrian Socialists in Great Britain, La Lettre de la France Libre, and News for German Socialists in England but the Library also holds newsletters published elsewhere, such as Leopold Schwarzschild's Das Neue Tage-Buch Paris, and Freies Deutschland published in Moscow.

Our refugee newsletters are written by and for Jewish refugees and some continue to be published today. In addition to the complete set of the Journal of the Association of Jewish Refugees in Great Britain (which is also available online via the AJR website) we hold issues of refugee newsletters from Cuba, Chile, Shanghai, Australia and the USA, as well as more specialist publications such as the newsletters for ex-Berliners and former Kartell-Convent students.
